Wow! What a weekend we experienced with record breaking temperatures across the state. Remember to be safe by using lots of sun protection and drinking water! In addition to hydration and sun protection, we suggest wearing light colored clothing; avoiding cotton or heavy weight polyester. You could also use a misting or spray bottle of water (applying water to back of neck and forehead. If you are a "heavy sweater", drinking beverages with electrolytes can be very beneficial. If you want to cool off with a swim and enjoy our lakes by swimming or boating, you may want to check this Beach Conditions website for water conditions first.
Congratulations to all of our teachers who participated in some big events across the state the past two weekends. We heard of a few teachers participating in the Green Bay Half Marathon and Full Marathon, and congratulations to Lindsay Herb who ran a PR (Personal Record) and qualified for the Boston Marathon! We also had teachers participate in the Mad Town Half Marathon this past Sunday. If you have had a PR or participated in an event and would like to share your accomplishments with the V-Fitt Team, please email Laurie Tackett or any of the team members. We want to celebrate all of the remarkable things our staff are doing inside and outside the classroom!
We have seen many of you running, cycling, walking, hiking around the area. If you want to record information about your speed, distance, etc., you might consider downloading the app "Strava". Strava has training plans, challenges, and many other valuable tools for all of you "data nerds" out there or someone who simply wants to see how far they traveled on a hike or run.
Feel free to reach out to Melissa Ruder (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions about the app.
